Chicken Farm

At Plum, we understand that poultry farming demands rigorous attention to animal health, efficient water use, and precise environmental control. Our Chicken Farm solution integrates smart irrigation, livestock care, and agrovet supplies to help farmers grow healthier flocks, reduce losses, and increase productivity.

Challenges & Plum’s Solutions

Poor water management: Inadequate or inconsistent water supply undermines hygiene, increases disease risk, and reduces growth.
→ We designed and installed reliable irrigation and water systems tailored to poultry houses — including nipple drinkers, automatic troughs, and drip lines — ensuring steady, clean water flow while conserving water use.

Disease and biosecurity threats: Infections spread fast in close quarters; vaccination, disinfection, and feed quality are critical.
→ Through our Agrovet & Livestock Division, we supplied quality vaccines, feed supplements, medications, and biosecurity protocols. We also trained staff on best hygiene practices and disease monitoring.

Inadequate temperature, ventilation & housing: Overheating, drafts, or poor light levels harm growth and welfare.
→ We advised on farm layout, roofing, insulation, and ventilation systems, integrating sensors and monitoring tools so farmers can maintain optimal environmental conditions year-round.

Feed cost & quality challenges: Low-quality feed or poor feed conversion reduces profitability.
→ We sourced and recommended balanced feeds and nutritional additives. We also introduced monitoring for feed conversion ratios, ensuring better returns for every kilo of feed used.

Impact & Outcomes

Improved daily weight gain and flock uniformity

Reduced mortality and disease incidence

Lower input costs through efficient feed and water use

Enhanced animal welfare and compliance with regulatory standards

Increased profitability and resilience of the poultry enterprise

Poultry farming remains one of Kenya’s most promising agribusiness ventures — yet it’s often limited by water, biosecurity, and feed challenges. This project demonstrates how integrated management under one roof can turn everyday poultry operations into efficient, profitable, and sustainable enterprises.
